Study of influence of tool geometry and temperature on bone substructure to reduce bone drilling injury

چکیده

Abstract For multiple piece bone fractures orthopaedic surgeons often prefer drilling. During drilling (cortical and cancellous) heat is generated. Heat accumulation above tolerance level of biomaterial causes permanent injury. This leads to delayed restoration period. can be avoided by controlling drill tool geometrical aspects in depth information substructure. Among various angles tool, helix angle very important as it gives way out chip thereby removal from site. Temperature affects up cellular so identify thermal damage, substructure has study. paper deals with the study that contributes temperature rise its effect on

Temperature in bone drilling process: Mathematical modeling and Optimization of effective parameters (TECHNICAL NOTE)

Bone drilling process is the most prominent process in orthopedically surgeries and curing bone breakages. It is also very common in dentistry and bone sampling operations. Due to complexity of the material that is machined, bone, and the sensitivity of the process, bone drilling is one of the most important, common and sensitive processes in biomedical engineering field. The most critical prob...

Biomechanical Evaluation of Temperature Rising and Applied Force in Controlled Cortical Bone Drilling: An Animal in Vitro Study

Background: The present study was conducted to quantify the relationships between bone drilling process parameters(i.e., feed rate, resting time, exit rate, and drill bit diameter) and drilling outcome parameters (i.e., thrust force andmaximum temperature). Methods: This study utilized 10-cm cortical bovine samples to evaluate the effects of four independent parameters,in...

Temperature effects in the drilling of human and bovine bone

Bone is an anistropic material, the drilling of which is an essential part of internal ®xation in orthopaedic and trauma surgery. Some research has been carried out into the drilling of bone, but there are no de®nitive recommendations available on the most suitable drill shape or on the optimum drilling speed that should be used in surgical practice. The heat generated during the drilling of bo...

An Experimental Research on Bone Drilling Temperature in Orthopaedic Surgery

The bone drilling temperature fields under different cutting parameters and cooling modes were experimental researched by using common twist drill, diamond punching pin, diamond bullet-like grinding head and diamond spherical grinding head. Three cooling modes were applied, namely, natural air cooling, normal saline pouring cooling and normal saline spray cooling. K-thermocouple was used to mea...
